Cowley Ward
Cowley Ward covers the area from Donnington Bridge to nearly the Southern Bypass on the west side of the arterial road. Its current population stands at 16, 503, of whom roughly 25% are under 19 (23.81% [2001]), and 16.8% [2001] non-white, in keeping with the profile for the East area in general. 20.26% (2001) households were found to be low income with four areas defined as SOAs , for poor ratings on housing, crime, education and skills training. 30.15% residents have no qualifications (2001). It is an area of mixed housing, some terraced, some semi-detached, with light industries such as building yards, car dealerships, warehousing, an old Cinema in the process of refurbishment as an entertainment centre. Florence Park is an up and coming residential area of mostly 1930s private housing. Cowley is home to the Oxford Community School, sports centre.
